The Diocese was founded by Bishop Todd and Rev Dr Patsy McGregor. On 14 March 2021, Assistant Bishop, the Rt Rev Dr Samitiana Jhonson RAZAFINDRALAMBO was elected the next Bishop. He was installed as the 2nd Bishop of Toliara on 25th April 2021.  

The Diocese is ably led by Bishop Samitiana and his wife Neny Holy, assisted by the clergy and their spouses.

In addition, there are a great group of evangelists, student evangelists and seminarians who share in carrying the gospel to the far ends of southern Madagascar, and many catechists and student catechists who lead services and train the people in living a Christian life.

The Diocesan Staff complete this leadership team.

There are over 140 Churches in the Diocese, and it continues to grow in many ways.

We have benefited from the support of so many people and organizations overseas, and especially from the missionaries – long and short term – and other visitors who have come to share their Christian faith and their skills and talents with us.
