Evangelism

The Diocese trains, sends out, and supports priests and evangelists as they travel across the area, sometimes to places six days away from the Cathedral.

The evangelists can utilize tools provided by the Diocese, including the Campus Crusade “Jesus Film” in relevant language and spoken Bible study on a device the size of a walkie talkie.

In addition, the Diocese helps to establish the building of churches for people to gather to hear the Gospel. The Diocese baptizes and confirms hundreds of people each year.

Construction of churches:

We now have over 100 Churches in the Diocese of Toliara (in 10 parishes and 4 districts).  We continue to build and dedicate church buildings, although many Churches worship either in a home, under a tree or in a classroom or rented space.

We are very grateful to ICM (International Cooperating Ministries) who continue to provide funds for constructing church buildings in the Diocese. Financial assistance in furnishing and equipping these buildings is still required.

Evangelism training

Evangelism has always been our core focus in growing the church. We continue to train evangelists from our own Diocese and also three other Malagasy Dioceses (Mahajanga, Toamasina and Fianarantsoa).  We have become the leaders in preparing evangelists in Madagascar.

Please keep praying that the Lord will continue to expand his kingdom and that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

St Patrick’s Bible College

Our school for evangelism is called St. Patrick’s Bible College.

The College trains lay evangelists, and also prepares candidates for ordination training. After a year or two, these students for the priesthood go on to study at university in the capital.

Financial assistance for those studying at seminary is currently provided by St Gregory’s Episcopal Church, Boca Raton, Florida.

Rev. Adam Boulter was appointed Dean and Principal of St Patrick’s Bible College in 2019.

Catechists’ Training

To the glory of God, we have expanded our training which was initially designed for the catechists, to include preachers, cup bearers, and exorcists. We have continued to sponsor training for student catechists and new lay leaders.  This eases the work of the priest, who has pastoral oversight over up to 25 Churches.  Lay leaders  are much needed as essential partners in this ministry.
