Writing to your sponsored child

Your student loves to hear from you – even if it is only a few words!  Sponsor’s letters, photos and cards are really treasured.

As you build a relationship you will be creating a unique link to your student, and to their community.

How to send it:
It is not possible to send actual physical letters or parcels to Toliara. The best way of communicating is by email direct to toliarachild@gmail.com

You can simply write an email, or you can handwrite a letter or card. Then scan or photograph them and send them as attachments to your email.

Please always state ‘THE NAME OF YOUR STUDENT’ and his/her ‘REFERENCE NUMBER’ when you send a letter or email.

A staff member will print and translate your message and any card or photos and ensure your child receives it.

If you are unable to use email and want to send a paper letter or photo, please mail it to:
Marcy Allen, 9676 Vineyard Court, Boca Raton FL 33428, USA
She will then scan it and email it to Madagascar.

How often to write:
A good guide is to write 2 or 3 times a year – but please write when you want.

What to write:
A letter doesn’t have to be complicated or long.
Talk about yourself, your family, where you live, even the weather (Toliara doesn’t have snow; and trees don’t lose their leaves in autumn) .
Add a photo (of you, your family or pets, your town), and say who or what is in the picture.
Be encouraging. Maybe ask a question.
Share a Bible Verse that is important to you.
Promise to pray for them.

Can I send a card?
Yes, please do, especially for Christmas, Easter or birthdays!  Please scan the card and send by email to toliarachild@gmail.com or by mail to Marcy Allen at the address above, who will send it on by email.

Will I hear back?
Yes, you can expect to hear from your student a couple of times a year.
