Newly Baptised at Mangily!

Thanks be to God! Rev Delphin baptized 38 people on Sunday 23rd April in Mangily, on the coast just north of Toliara town.

Newly baptized, with their baptism certificates

He asks us to pray that God will continue to strengthen their faith because there are a big challenges in Mangily. Since he joined the Diocese of Toliara last year, he has baptized 102 Christians in Mangily, and also asks our prayers for him and his missions in Fenoarivo Parish.

In January, he asked for your prayers for his wife. He is very happy to report that, after six months of treatment, she is now fine.

We give thanks for the newly ordained

We give thanks to God for those newly ordained within the Diocese of Toliara.

For Rev. LAHITODY Jean Florent who was ordained priest on Sunday April 3rd in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Toliara.  Rev. Florent is the priest of Fenoarivo Parish in the Cathedral District:

And for Rev. RAFANOMEZANTSOA Benjamin Ferdinand who was ordained priest, and Evangelists RAMIANDRISOA Clovis, VANO Lazara and Julien who were ordained deacon on Saturday April 9th in the Chapel of St Andrew, Mahabo:

Rev Benja is the priest of Mahabo Parish, and Deacons Clovis, Lazara and Julien all serve in the Parish of Morondava.

Deacon Lazara, Rev. Lova, Bishop Samy, Rev. Benja, Deacon Julien & Deacon Clovis
Bishop Samy & Neny Holy with the team who prepared for the ordination service in Mahabo.

We invite you to pray for the clergy, evangelists, catechists and all church leaders, as they lead Holy Week and Easter Day services. As we come, perhaps tired and unprepared, perhaps hungry for a new beginning oreager for the light to shine in the darkness, may they be inspired and strengthened by the Holy Spirit to lead us in our worship and help us all to draw closer to our resurrected Lord Jesus.

CYCLE FOR JESUS!

Today a team of Christians from Ambovombe, led by Rev. Gaston, cycled 14 miles to Andohalambo to open a new Church there.

The team worked well together at repairing punctured tires, even stuffing one tire with sacking when there was no other way to repair it!

Thanks be to God for their commitment to bring others into the Kingdom of God and help their faith to grow!

Climate Change Famine

BBC News reports that Madagascar is on the brink of experiencing the world’s first “climate change famine”. This is according to the United Nations, which says tens of thousands of people are already suffering “catastrophic” levels of hunger and food insecurity after four years without rain.

Even though rain fell earlier this year, the worst hit part of Madagascar is still in the Parish of Amboasary in the Diocese of Toliara, where people are eating locusts and cacti to survive. Click here to read the full article.

Please pray for the people of this region.

Information on how to give to help the Diocese provide food can be found here.

“I will turn the desert into pools of water”

One of the supporters of the Diocese of Toliara wrote recently saying, my wife came across this passage today and we decided to pray it over the Malagasy in the south:

The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set junipers in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.”‭‭

Isaiah‬ ‭41:17-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What a great passage!  We serve a God who knows about water projects, and we know how much it is needed!

We invite you to join us in praying this for southern Madagascar.

GOD IS KNOCKING! WILL YOU ANSWER?

On April 17th, 2021, we held our first ever online fundraiser for the McGregor Toliara Endowment Fund. It was hosted and led by Bishop Todd and Rev Patsy McGregor who founded the Diocese of Toliara sixteen years ago.

The McGregors created this Endowment to offer sustainability for one of the poorest regions in one of the poorest countries in the world in order to promote God’s legacy and to continue the great work God has begun.

During the Zoom call, we watched a video inviting us to give to this Endowment Fund and support the Diocese. If you weren’t able to join us, or would like to share this video with others , you can find it at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFvrMuQhJes
